The MAP audit looks at waste reduction, gas consumpion and quality assurance to identify areas where modified atmosphere packaging processes can be optimized.

  • ncrease the packaging speed
  • Minimize excess gas consumption
  • Reduce waste of packaging material
  • Ensure that MAP equipment operae at full capacity

Overvie

MAP Audit will improve processes and make sure the packaging equipment is operating at full capacity and delivering maximum value. In almost every MAP-line, there is an untapped potential of streamlining the packaging process. The audit helps you identify and exploit these opportunities in order to make it more cost-efficient.

Since 2009, AMETEK MOCON has specialized in optimization of modified atmosphere packaging processes within the food, beverage and pharmaceutical industries. The invention of the MAP audit was a result of the many experiences with ineffective MAP processes. Especially with regards to:

  • Waste reduction
The amount of waste presents a problem in a significant number of MAP-lines, but too few manufacturers are aware of the problem and even fewer recognize the fact that reducing waste would save a lot of money.
  • Gas Savings
Excess gas use continues to be a costly problem in many MAP processes, but there are various ways to limit the gas consumption, both by using the right equipment and by applying the right operation technique.
  • Quality Assurance (QA)
When equipment runs at a high speed most of the time, the risk of defects increases. Therefore, ongoing quality assurance is an integrated part of the MAP audit. This is to make sure that the equipment is running at full capacity.

Designed specifically for the coffee industry, the Dansensor MultiCheck 2 helps to ensure that the characteristic taste and aroma of your products are preserved and that your brand reputation is protected. It is equipped with specialized filters and sensors for coffee applications – though it is also suitable for other applications. In addition, you can conduct integrated valve leak and valve release tests on degassing valves with the optional valve testing unit (VTU), so the integrity of your entire package is accurately tested and recorded in a combined report.

Increase the uptime of your packaging line with this reliable analyzer and avoid time consuming troubleshooting exercises when inconsistencies arise. Moreover, reduce the risk of human error and improve your quality management with dependable data storage and real time data transfer. The instrument can store test results from more than 100,000 tests.

With the ability to conduct four tests in one – headspace gas analysis, leak detection, valve leak and valve release – the Dansensor MultiCheck 2 is 50% faster, takes less space, and is more user friendly than its predecessors. It takes up less space and is more user friendly with an intuitive user interface. In addition, there are dedicated ports for the test head and VTU and USB ports for connecting additional accessories, such as a barcode scanner or keyboard. It also includes the option to conduct a burst test, to help you establish the settings and limitations for your package testing. Up to 999 product test settings can be programmed into the unit to ensure consistent test parameters.

The Dansensor MultiCheck 2 is designed for easy maintenance and cleaning, so you can proactively preserve the accuracy of your measurements and ensure uptime. Use the self-rinsing backflush program regularly to remove particles and contaminants from the system and replace the easy-to-access filters on the test head.

Overview

Measure seal strength and package integrity with the Dansensor® Lippke® 5000. Perform burst, leak, creep, creep to fail and bubble tests from one instrument – or try the combined test option to conduct a simultaneous leak, creep and burst test on a single package. It is ideal for testing rigid, semi rigid and flexible packaging, as well as porous and laminated foils for the food, pharma and medical industries.

With an extensive array of features, test options and accessories, it meets applicable ISO and ASTM standards. In addition, the instrument features individual logins and different user levels to ensure the data security and traceability required by healthcare and pharmaceutical customers.

The leak test systems provide manufacturers with an idea of how well packages resist pressure. Measuring seal strength and carrying out pressure leak tests are important prerequisites to delivering strong and lasting packaging that have a low risk of bursting under pressure.

Leak detectors:
The Dansensor® Lippke® 5000 is one in a series of leak detectors we offer. Each of the leak detectors in the product family are based on an acknowledged pressure leak and seal strength test method which provide manufacturers with unique opportunities for measuring seal strength and conducting pressure leak tests as part of the Quality Control process:

  • Dansensor® LeakPointer® 3 and Dansensor® LeakPointer® 3+
Prolonged shelf-life requires for the package to be intact. Especially in the food industry where freshness and appearance are essential. Dansensor LeakPointer 3 and Dansensor LeakPointer 3+ are approved for the food industry and are capable of detecting leak sizes down to 50 micron(µm). This helps manufacturers minimize the number of unwanted returns.
  • Dansensor® LeakMatic ll
Users of Dansensor LeakMatic ll can enjoy the benefits from non-destructive in-line leak testing, e.g. waste reductions and fewer unwanted returns of MAP products. The off-line Dansensor LeakMatic ll is applied by manufacturers to make sure that no products with undetected leaks are sent to the retailers. This is an important part of working with quality control.
  • Dansensor® Lippke® VC1400
Dansensor Lippke VC1400 provides reliable seal strength and pressure leak testing of many types of packaging. It can be used for quality control checks, R&D package testing and process optimization on the packaging line.

Overview

The Dansensor® LeakPointer® H2O  is a package leak detector which helps you pinpoint even the smallest leaks. This instrument helps you conduct visual leak tests (bubble test) on all types of flexible, semi-rigid and rigid packages, regardless of whether they have ample headspace, like MAP packages, or use other packaging methods with little or no headspace, such as vacuum or skin packaging.

Operation and use

Simply place the test package(s) into the tub, close the lid, and start the instrument to begin testing – you can even use the vacuum pressure to fill the tub with exactly the right amount of water from a water container via the drain hose.

Adjust the pressure as needed and watch for a stream of bubbles from the package to locate the leak. When you stop the instrument, the test ends and the lid opens automatically, remaining open and dripping excess water back into the tub. The instrument is also easy to empty and clean with a built-in drain, quick-release hose and removable, rounded tub.

No messy overfill, no heavy lifting to fill or clean the instrument, and no hard-to-reach corners!

Add an optional digital pressure meter to ensure a successful test every time, even on rigid flat packages that don’t expand under pressure or packages with easy-open seals which can’t withstand high pressures.

Additional or stand-alone leak detection

The Dansensor LeakPointer H2O is the perfect addition to your quality control process. It can be used alone, or to achieve the ultimate leak detection solution, use it in tandem with the Dansensor LeakPointer 3 or LeakPointer 3– first determine if there is a leak with a non-destructive leak test, then use the LeakPointer H2O to find the leak’s exact location.

The Dansensor® LeakPointer H2O is part of our leak detector family of products.

  • Dansensor® LeakPointer® 3 and Dansensor® LeakPointer® 3+
